In 2000, the departments “History of Uzbekistan” and “General History” were created at the Faculty of History, and on February 28, 2015 they were merged into the department “Methods of Teaching History.”

Since February 28, 2015, the Department of Methods of Teaching History was headed by Ph.D. associate professor Kh.R. Kurbanov, since August 26, 2015, the department has been headed by candidate of historical sciences, associate professor R.M. Karshiev, since August 27, 2018, the department has been headed by doctor of historical sciences, associate professor A.M. Aminova.

The teaching staff of the department in the 2024-2025 academic year amounted to 37 people, 26 of whom work on the main staff. Of these, 1 professor, 1 doctor of historical sciences (DSc), 7 associate professors, 6 doctors of historical sciences (PhD), 2 doctors of philosophical sciences (PhD), 6 senior teachers and 19 teachers.  41% of the teaching staff are women.

To improve activities in the field of historical sciences and use foreign experience, the department actively cooperates with leading educational institutions in the world and organizes online classes and seminars for teachers and students.

Since 2023, the department has been renamed the Department of History. The department is specialized in training students in the following areas:

60111100 – “History”; 60111100 – “History, additionally state law”; 5110600 – “History” for pre-university education; 701101101 – “Methods of teaching social and human sciences (History).”

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the faculty of the department will teach 60111100 – “History”, 60111100 – “History, additional state law”, 5110600 – “History” for pre-university education and 701101101 – “Methods of teaching social sciences and humanities”. Sciences (history)” 27 subjects are taught in the master’s program.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the scientific potential of the teaching staff of the Department of History is 41%. Over the past years, the teachers of the department have prepared and published a number of textbooks and manuals on the World History of the ancient period, the History of civilization, the History of methodology, the History of Uzbekistan, as well as monographs, brochures covering the life and work of educators of the Turkestan region, in particular the Jadids, on the history of the emergence of cities and regions in the lower reaches of Zarafshan.

Doctor of Philosophy (Doctor of Sciences) Aminova A. “The history of economic preschool education in Uzbekistan in 1991-2021.” (at the premiere of the lower Zarafshan region)” a monograph has been published. The articles of 7 professors and teachers working at the department are indexed in the Hirsch index (h-index) according to high indicators.
