Navoi branch of Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute named after Nizomi was established by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the former USSR No. 1392 dated July 25, 1983, the Decree of the Central Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 455 and the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 455. of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan dated July 27, 1983. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 28, 1992 the status of Navoi State Pedagogical Institute was assigned. The institute has 2 faculties (physics and mathematics, Uzbek language and literature). According to the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on October 31, 2024 PQ-378, Navoi State University (hereinafter – the University) was established on the basis of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and Navoi State Pedagogical Institute of the Khokimiyat of Navoi region. At present Navoi State University has 11 faculties and 27 departments. The university trains bachelors in 34 directions, masters in 18 specialties. The contingent of students at the full-time bachelor’s degree department is 9 242 people, at the master’s degree department 340 people, at the correspondence department 7 835 people, at the evening department 1 560 people, the total number of students in the institute is 18 978 people.

A total of 483 full-time professors work in the educational process at the University. Of them there are 32 doctors of sciences, professors, 91 candidates of sciences and associate professors, 511 senior lecturers and associate professors. The share of professors and teachers with academic degrees in the university is 35.2%.
The number of educational buildings at the Navoi State University is 8 (with a capacity of 7500 seats), dormitories – 4 (with a capacity of 1230 seats), the number of classrooms – 245, laboratory rooms – 9, computer classes – 20, gyms – 4, open sports grounds – 5 , kitchens – 3, canteens – 1. In order to strengthen, develop and bring the material and technical base of the Navoi State University to the level of the most modern requirements, modern educational and laboratory equipment, information technology and communications, textbooks and educational materials, in particular, electronic information and educational resources are constantly updated with educational literature. All educational and student residential buildings are equipped with the necessary equipment in accordance with modern requirements. In addition, the institute has 950 computers, 135 video projectors, 390 printers, 3 information kiosks, 85 Wi-Fi devices, 35 electronic boards.
The law about “The State Emblem” was approved by the 10-th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on July 2, 1992.
The law about “The State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on November 18 in 1991 in the 8th session of the Supreme Council of Uzbekistan.
