It’s no secret to anyone that the effectiveness of the process of teaching and upbringing depends not only on its form, but also on the various methods and approaches. To achieve high quality and efficiency in education, the introduction of modern pedagogical and information technologies into the educational process is one of the most important tasks for teachers working in the field of education. This is probably why today there is a wide range of cooperation, interaction, exchange of knowledge and experience between organizations functioning in public and higher education sectors, as well as in other various fields related to education.
On the basis of an invitation letter from the Department of Public Education of Navoi region of Zarafshan City Department of Public Education No. 01-02 / 2-2825 and the order No. 183 of the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 13, 2020 “On the further development of continuous methodological services in the public education system” there was organized a methodological seminar-training on the topic “Innovation for a brighter future” on January 8, 2021, at the secondary school No. 3 of Zarafshan city. The seminar was organized on the initiative of the policy-regulatory members of Zarafshan City Department of Public Education and teachers of English language and Literature Department of Navoi State Pedagogical Institute.
The main goal of the educational and methodological seminar-training, initiated by the Department of Public Education of Zarafshan, was to establish long-term, innovative and effective cooperation with teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Navoi State Pedagogical Institute. The training seminar was conducted by a group of experienced teachers of the Department of English Language and Literature of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
The event was opened by the opening speech of the head of the Department of English Language and literature S.K. Khasanova under the title “New Uzbekistan starts from the threshold of the school education system”. During her speech, S. Khasanova addressed to the President’s speech Sh. Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis dated to December 29, 2020, on the achievements in the field of education, a number of carried out activities and planned ones for implementation within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Science and Education. In addition, S. Khasanova, in her speech, noted the importance of “modern skills” that teachers and language instructors should acquire in the era of globalisation. Then the floor was given to the head of the department of public education Z.A. Bakhranova and the director of school No. 3 D. Berdiyarova. They informed all participants about the advantages of cooperation in the educational sphere. The opening ceremony was continued by the speech of the senior teacher of the Department of English language and literature N. Rakhimova, who presented the INPRODEC project, created under the Change Academy program, jointly launched by the British Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and on the basis of this project she provided all participants of the seminar with detailed information about the Center for Professional Development (CPD), which began its activities at the institute. In her speech, N. Rakhimova emphasized the unique advantages of continuous professional development and its importance for teachers and policy-regulatory departments. At the end of the opening ceremony, the teachers of the seminar were awarded with souvenirs presented by the Department of Public Education of Zarafshan.
During the event, all participants were invited to training master classes organized by the leading teachers of the Department of English language and literature on the following topics: “Effective feedback” (D. Kodirova and M. Burkhanova), “Using digital learning tools in the EFL classrooms” (N. Rakhimova and Y. Khasanova), “Effective implementation and assessment of project works” (D. Ergashova and N. Ochilova). All teachers who participated in the seminar-training were provided with handouts, video and audio materials used during the workshops.
At the end of the event, words of gratitude were expressed to all organizers and participants of the event. The Department of English language and literature of Navoi State Pedagogical Institute and the Department of Public Education of Zarafshan signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of education, research and professional development.
Under a bilateral agreement, the parties agreed on active assistance and support in the field of continuous improvement of the qualifications of teachers, the organization of mutual control and observation of lessons, the use of modern advanced forms of education in the educational process, the use of new pedagogical and information technologies, the exchange of experience and the provision of methodological guidance for secondary schools and the creation of joint educational publications and materials, etc., corresponding to modern requirements and standards. In addition, a number of activities were planned to carry out, such as the organization of summer schools, IELTS and CELTA courses etc.
